"I remember a time when the government used to work for people, and I'm deeply grateful for what the federal government did for me," Reynoso told the Amsterdam News. "I've been looking to pay it forward ever since."

But today's political reality tells a different story. Reynoso points to the mounting challenges facing working families: "Right now, it seems like all of the headaches, all of the nonsense, and the hurt that people are feeling in this country are coming by way of the federal government."

Strategic Opposition to Conservative Policies

With Trump's influence continuing to shape Republican policy priorities, Reynoso's campaign represents a direct counter-narrative. He's targeting the bread-and-butter issues that resonate with diverse communities facing economic pressures—from rising gas prices and inflation to potential cuts to SNAP benefits and Medicare.

The timing of his campaign is particularly significant. As conservative lawmakers push for reduced government spending on social programs, Reynoso's personal experience with these safety nets provides him with authentic credibility to defend them.

"Whether that's increasing gas prices, inflation going up, a war with Iran, cuts to SNAP and cuts to Medicare," he explained, "there's always something going on that is making our lives more difficult, not easier from the federal government."

"We are the largest county of Democrats in the country, and we should be a model for how the Democratic Party should be moving."
